Encouraging for Christ

To strengthen, motivate, and build up Christians in the faith

A prayer to seek for his refuge

Things are going good. There’s no financial problem. My health is good. I didn’t have to go out of my way to help someone. Didn’t get upset or frustrated with anything or anyone. It been smooth sailing for a while but I’m noticing some things as I’m enjoying this peace. I attend to lean on my own understanding rather than ask for your advice. I guess subconsciously I think of you as a bail bondsman rather than a father who seek a relationship with me in the good or bad times. When things are going good I think maybe I can handle it rather than following the one who pull me out the ditch. My desire for the things in the world are growing rather than seeking first the kingdom of God. This peace is making me rich in spirit rather than poor. What I’m asking you is to not take away this peace but to give me a greater desire for you in the good times. Of course I don’t want this peace to leave but I want you to be in the center of everything good or bad.

Making prayer more personal

Praying for most people is very stale and not personal. Reciting words that don’t have any meaning. The way we can make our prayer life more lively is to recall our experience with God.

Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”

Genesis 22:14

Abraham experience God as a provider. We all know the story of how God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac and at the last second God sent a angel to stop him. Then God provided an ram instead of Isaac to be the sacrifice.

For me I think of God as ” the God of revelations ” because He revealed himself to me when I wasn’t even seeking Him. He shared His life with me when I was lost in darkness. For that I will praise you Father for sending your son to die for my sins and blessing me with The Holy Spirit (the seal of my inheritance) to help me walk in your will.

So, what is your experience with God. Before you pray meditate on the things our Lord has done in your life. When you do this your prayers will come to life and your faith will grow stronger.

God bless

He does not forsake his saints

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Psalms 91:4 NLT

Hold tight to his faithful promise. My brothers and sisters we are at war with the devil. His plans is to keep everyone blind from God’s love but as Christians our plan is to reveal God’s love to everyone. In this war times are going to get tough. There will be times when we live by sight rather than faith. When we depend on the work of our hands rather than the work that has been done 2000 years ago. Remember God’s Providence for us:

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

God bless

Devote yourselves to prayer

Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.

Colossians 4:2 HCSB

Sometimes we get too wrapped up in life when we forget to pray, give thanks or just acknowledge who He is. We lean back on our understanding instead of His. We start to take credit for things that was meant for God’s glory. This is due to lack of time spent with God. Somewhere in our walk we veered left but it’s time to get back on the road. Devote yourselves to prayer. Open that line of communication with God and restore the relationship you once had. Give God thanks and glory for being a forgiving, faithful, and awesome Father.
God bless

Let your light shine

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16 NASB
Jesus calls us to be the light in the dark places. To give hope to the hopeless. To be a blessing to others. Everyday you should encourage someone by your actions. Loving others by your deeds and words. That in itself brings light into the darkest heart. Don’t be afraid to be the light God called you to be because someone is depending on you to show them the way.

A Powerful Gospel

Through out the new testament we keep hearing about this good news. This gospel that saves people from their sins and the wrath of God. It’s the message of how Jesus came down and humbled himself to die for the whole world so that people may have salvation through him (Jesus). Also what comes in that message is justice. Those who believe in this gospel have been made right in God’s eyes. How can this be? Do I not have to fix myself to be in the presence of God?

Most people think being righteous is doing good works for others but that’s the results of one who have been change by this gospel. This gospel have power to change individuals who believe and Paul was well aware of this.(Rom:1:16) That’s why he was very passionate about pushing this gospel to the ends of this earth. (Philippians 1) But to answer this question: you don’t do the fixing, God does. God’s power changes you from the inside out. Before we believed that Christ was our savior the best we could do is clean the outside of the cup. Which means we can stop acting on sin but our hearts still remain far from God. Even that’s not good enough for a holy and righteous God. OK, how do I know I have this power you talking about?

As Christians we should always examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. (2 Corinthians 13:5) The first thing to ask yourself is: what is your attitude towards sin. I’m not asking do you sin but do you hate sin? Does it make your body cringe when you do it or do you make an excuse for sin. Once we have been saved our love for God grows tremendously and it hurts to sin against God because we know how much he sacrificed to get us.

To wrap this up, if there is one point I want to get over to you is that God still saves. Their has not been anyone who is too bad, good, dumb, smart, poor, rich, black, white, pretty, ugly to receive this grace that have been made available to you.
God bless

Our identity in our creator

Have you ever meditated on God being our creator. This all powerful God made the heavens and the earth, mankind, animals, galaxies and even time itself. And yet He cares so much about us. Before the foundation of the world he knew who we are and what were going to do.(psalms 139:16) He knows the hair on our heads (Matthew 10:30)and all our needs.(Matthew 6:8)

The devil steal this truth from us and replace it with a lie. One of those lies he tells us that we’re not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, rich enough, or skinny enough to be wanted. We have to remember that He made us in his image (Genesis 1:26-27) which means when He sees you He sees Himself. He sees His glorious work of art in you. WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD! We were fearfully and wonderfully made in his image (psalms 139:14) Our skin, size, looks, intelligence, finances, or anything else does not stop God our father from loving us. God knows who you are…… Now embrace who you are!
God bless

Love that sacrifice

No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13 HCSB
That is exactly what Jesus did for us that we may have eternal life. This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent — Jesus Christ. John 17:3 In the same way we should lay down our lives that others may have eternal life through our words, actions, and our character in the power of the Holy Spirit

Being Tempted

Then the tempter approached Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” But He answered, “It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Matthew 4:3‭-‬4 HCSB

As Christian we face temptation everyday. We are tempted by the devil, our flesh, and the world but we overcome through our faith in Jesus Christ. For since He Himself was tested and has suffered, He is able to help those who are tested Hebrews 2:18
